Happy New Year!
I spent December in Old Beijing or so we were meant to believe. In reality I was up in the corner with a hot spotlight in Welwyn Garden City shining it on characters in ‘Aladdin’. English readers will be familiar with Christmas pantos (pantomime), others perhaps not. Needless to say the same pantos from a pool of three or four go around at Christmas offering entertainment to the family. All are based more or less on fairy tales like ‘Aladdin’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘Jack & The Beanstalk’ and feature songs, slapstick, dames, princes and princesses and audience participation is encouraged in booing the villain and his ham-fisted schemes. This years show wasn’t as taxing physically or mentally perhaps in part to not being the first show I have worked on.
I start work in London for a couple of months at least.
Where will I be going with my wages? I have an idea but all will be revealed in due course.
This much I do know, 8 days into the new year and I already daydream about flying off somewhere or other!
